Even though he is not a dietary professional himself, entrepreneur Jonathan Hunsaker has assembled a team of experts that offer natural solutions to fill any supplement needs.

Formula

The special patented ingredient in Prevagen is called Apoaquorin. A substance derived from jellyfish. The new and improved Professional Formula contains four times the amount of Apoaequorin and 50 mcg of Vitamin D.

Effects

In a computer-assessed clinical study at Quincy Bioscience, Apoaquorin proved to support cognitive functions in patients over a 90 day period. Prevagen seems to be tailored to more senior users as its strength is the improvement in mild memory loss associated with aging.

However, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and New York Attorney General sued Quincy Biosciences in 2017 for making false claims. It asserted that the Apoaquorin is broken down into amino acids in the stomach and can't travel to the brain to be converted again. It also said the company's own clinical study showed no statistically significant improvement between subjects who took Prevagen and subjects who took a placebo.

The FDA also opened a case saying that Prevagen did not warn its users about potential side effects such as seizures and strokes.

Use

Take one capsule every morning either on an empty stomach or after breakfast. Prevagen is an over-the-counter dietary supplement that doesn’t require a doctor’s prescription.
